WHY BONE IS IMPORTANT?
The
skeleton is the body’s framework. It
is made of bones, which provide a firm surface for muscles to attach to, so
that they can move. Without skeleton, we would not be able to move
at all. The skeleton also supports the body and
protects our internal organs.
When muscles contract, the bones to
which they are attached act as levers and cause various body parts to move. The tendons from muscles are attached to the
skeleton so movement of the muscle results in movement of
the bone and hence movement of the body.

Bone
stores crucial nutrients, minerals, and lipids and produces blood cells that
nourish the body and play a vital role in protecting the body against infection. All these
functions make the approximately 206 bones of the human body an organ that is
essential to our daily existence.
